Ever brighter

The path of the righteous is like the first gleam of dawn,
shining ever brighter till the full light of day.

Here (Prov. 4:18) is another fitting text that illuminates, and is illuminated by, 2 Corinthians 3:18 (the text chosen to be this year’s annual home visitation theme for our church). This text came to mind this past week when one of my children urged the rest of us to come outside on a cool morning to view a spectacular sunrise. May the promise of the dawn fill us with the certainty of the glory that God will reveal one day. Can’t wait!

Ever-increasing glory!

Those who know Christ, show Christ.

Those who contemplate Christ, imitate him.

Those whose mirror is Christ, manifest him.

You just see faint flashes of God’s glory in you now? Don’t give up: one day, the righteous will shine like the sun in the kingdom of their Father! (Matthew 13:43)

And we, who with unveiled faces all reflect the Lord’s glory, are being transformed into his likeness with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit. (2 Corinthians 3:18)

So keep your eyes on the glorious Son!
