A Morning Prayer

Father in heaven, God over all, we worship and adore you as King of kings and Lord of Lords. The day that has dawned with the morning light, like all days, belongs to you.

Help us to make the best use of the time that you are giving us today. Fill us with your Holy Spirit so that we may live as children of the light, being fruitful in what is good and right and true. (Name some things that you know to be good and right and true for you to be doing, and commit to doing them).

Help us discern what is pleasing to you. We want nothing to do with the fruitless deeds of darkness, except to expose them for what they really are, so that we may cast them away. (Name some bad fruit of the darkness, in yourself and in the world around you, that you desire to cast away.)

You have commanded us to wake up from the sleep of sin and rise from the dead. With your help we do so, believing your promise that Christ will shine on us, and that you will give us what we now ask in his name.  Amen.
